Formal Gardening victory over Jungle Gardener

Competing against four formal gardeners, Jon Kelf raised the profile of exotic gardens and the Norfolk National Gardens Scheme in this year’s BBC Gardener of the Year competition. The winner Hilary Barnes from West Sussex was announced as all finalists were invited to Greenacre, winning by public vote. However NGS gardener Helen Brown, Devon was picked as the judges favourite. Well done Jon for achieving a place among these finalists!

Jon said, “Although disappointed it was a great honour to have achieved the recognition to reach the finals of BBC Gardener of the Year. It was a fantastic day at Greenacre with the company of the other gardeners and chatting over a meal in the evening. It was definitely a day to remember and a year with winning the “Garden of the Year” Award”.

Jon has achieved a following of many exotic forums across the county and a great interest from individuals with small town gardens. His enthusiasm for gardening is expanding with ideas of a larger garden and new projects. However for followers of the Norfolk National Gardens Scheme, Jon Kelf has taken time out to find a garden to continue developing his gardening passion, a chance to peep over another new NGS garden gate in the future!
