Visiting Norfolk Gardens

Every year, thousands of gardens throughout England and Wales get ready to welcome visitors through the National Gardens Scheme.

Here in Norfolk, gardens range from the small and quirky to the large and grand. Very often you will have a chance to meet the owners, enjoy home-made refreshments, and purchase some exciting plants - you will find all the details on this website.

Alternatively, if you are looking further afield, please visit the national NGS website.

New President of the National Gardens Scheme

Julie ReingerJoe Swift, the well known garden designer and TV personality who has presented BBC2's Gardeners World since 1998, has joined the National Gardens Scheme (NGS) as President. Joe has had considerable first-hand knowledge of many NGS gardens and has filmed in several for various TV programmes, including 15 episodes of the popular BBC2 ‘Open Gardens’ series. One of Joe’s first duties as President was to host the launch of The Yellow Book 2010 featuring Manor House Farm, Wellingham, Norfolk on the front cover at the Royal Festival Hall with NGS Ambassador Alan Gray of East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden. Open Your Garden?

Have you a garden of quality, character and interest? Would you like to open it to the public and in doing so support charity?

The scheme is always interested to hear of potential gardens, large or small, that might open in the future.

For more information about opening your garden please contact any of the Norfolk NGS team.

Garden Photographer

If one of your hobbies is visiting gardens and taking good high quality pictures, this will be a joy for you! The Norfolk NGS are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer garden photographer to take images of the open gardens. It can be for part of, or the whole county, as little or as much as you desire.

For more details contact the Norfolk Press Officer.

Volunteers

NGS is run by volunteers based in each county. People share the fun and work involved in organising open garden events. Although knowledge of gardens is always helpful, the main requirement is for good organisational skills and for people who enjoy working as part of a team.

If you feel you could help contact the ngs team.
