The garden at East Ruston Old Vicarage is unique in the huge range of plants that grow there from desert cacti to prehistoric tree ferns, This is firstly because of its location close to the North Sea where severe frost is a rarity and secondly the shelter belts surrounding the garden which further improves the microclimate.

The garden is composed of a series of rooms each with its own theme; some hugely busy and colourful, some quietly green and calming. Wild flower meadows in spring, the early bulbs, the Mediterranean garden, the sunk garden, vegetable and cutting gardens, the desert wash, the woodlands and exotic gardens, Californian border and a simple but superb cornfield with all the old cornfield “weeds” of yesteryear a perfectly picturesque panoply of colour.

This year there is a “new” rose garden but, one with a twist.

This is a garden not to miss but, to enjoy many times throughout the year as the owners take great care to make it interesting, colourful and surprising at all times.
